Vevey, at the end of the seventies. After his prison sentence, Eddy is welcomed back to freedom by his old buddy Osman. He finds a temporary new home with him and his daughter Samira. When they hear about Charlie Chaplin's death on television, Eddy has an idea: he and Osman should make Chaplin's coffin disappear and demand a ransom for the body from the wealthy Chaplin family. But Eddy and Osman have made a mistake without Chaplin's chauffeur Crooker and the Vaudois police. Will the bumbling small-time crooks still get their money? Xavier Beauvois (DES HOMMES ET DES DIEUX) has turned a real event into a wonderfully macabre comedy and a subtle homage to the great silent film star Chaplin. In addition to Chiara Mastroianni, the daughter of Marcello Mastroianni and Catherine Deneuve, Chaplin's granddaughter and son also star.
