Valentine's Day Greetings!

A colourful bouquet of "in love" films, fitting for 14 February

Once again this year, filmfriend sends you warm Valentine's Day greetings! What began a long time ago with the feast of St Valentine has developed into a special custom, especially in English-speaking countries. In 1950, the first German "Valentine's Ball" was organised in Nuremberg. From then on, the customs of Valentine's Day spread throughout Germany. It became particularly popular during the years of the German economic miracle, when the flower industry increasingly used the day for advertising purposes. In addition to flowers, love letters, cards and locks on bridge railings, gifts are also part of the celebrations for many couples on 14 February - and so a few films are added to the mix for festive hours spent in love.
